Question 2003 ES-300 TRAC OFF and VSC light

I have a 2003 Lexus ES-300 V-6, and the Trac, and VSC light came on, I have removed the battery, and alternator and had it checked out It both parts checked OK, so I like to know what is the problem with this. Also at one time the BAT light came on but after shutting off the car and restarting it this light did not come back on. Also I had code P2241 02 sensor circuit current control circuit low bank 2 sensor 1, purchase and installed a new A/F bank 2 sensor 1, reset code that problem is fixed. I need help on the Trac, and VSC light anyone else had this problem?

Did you try pushing the traction control button below the steering wheel, lower right.

Yes, I did thanks , but I fixed it, it took a lot of trouble shooting , but I finally got iut so if anyone else had this issue I may be able to help them, but they will have to be mechanical incline to a certain degree to fix it themselves..

When the Trac and VSC light come on, it's usually a result of a pending error. Get an OBD II reader and check for any pending codes.

On second thought, dont delete it cuz I found something that may be somewhat useful and because this happened to me during a state inspection.

So he plugs in the diagnostic scan reader into my cars OBD (on 2002 ES) it is the white in the foot well right above where your calves would be if your feet would be in the foot well on the drivers side.

and all of a sudden I get the VSC OFF and TRAC OFF lights on and they stay on. I shut off car and turn back on- lights go away then come back when I drive a few feet.

IF you are having this issue - it is that the steering angle sensor needs to be calibrated. How you would do it is using a thin paper clip and no key in the car put the paper clip. you need to short pins 4 and 14(meaning connect them) then put the car in the ON position (do not start the car)
You will see the lights for VSC and ABS flash really flash. Let it sit like that for 8 seconds then
turn the car OFF and remove the paper clip.
Put the key in then start the Car. The VSC and TRAC lights should light up and then turn off like normal.
When you drive the few feet they should not turn back on.

This is if you have the issue of VSC and TRAC OFF popping up after driving a few feet.
Try this.

Below is a snippet from the TOYOTA TSB for 2003 4Runner (this also worked for my 2002 ES300).
Here is a link to the document that wil show pins 4 and 14 (described below as Ts and CG). Be sure you are looking at the OBD the right way and not upside down.
Attached pic incase link doesnt work.

1. Ensure the shift lever is in
“P” range.
2. Turn the ignition switch ON.
3. Using SST 09843–18040, repeat a
cycle of short and open between
terminals Ts and CG of DLC3 4 times
or more within 8 seconds. Verify that
the VSC indicator light is lit indicating
the recorded zero point is erased.
4. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
5. Be sure the terminals Ts and CG of
DLC3 are disconnected.
6. Turn the ignition switch ON.
7. Check that the VSC warning light
goes off about 15 seconds after the
ignition switch is turned ON.
8. After ensuring that the VSC warning
light remains OFF for 2 seconds, turn
the ignition switch OFF.
9. Connect the terminal Ts and CG of
DLC3 using SST 09843–18040.
10. Turn the ignition switch ON.
11. After turning the ignition switch ON,
check that the VSC warning light
is lit for about 4 seconds and then
starts quick blinking at
0.13 second intervals.

Hello, I'm also getting Error codes P2241 & P2238 and when I looked it up I found it was an Air/ fuel ratio sensor the codes were for different banks but the same exact sensor. So I changed both sensors for bank1 & bank2. After a few weeks the check engine light came back on reading the same exact codes! Did I do something wrong or found the wrong information. Also when I went to get the 2nd sensor they gave me an 02sensor which I had to take back because it didn't fit in the bank & get the A/F sensor and pay double labor. I'm wondering if I should have just changed the 02sensor all along but at the same time that's not what the codes said on the list I found online. Oh & NO TRAC or VSC lights on - just the check engine light. Thanks!

Default The paper clip thing CG Terminal and TS Terminal - 2002 ES300

So I had a check engine light pop up. I have an 2 OBDII scanners and I grabbed the cheaper unit, low and behold the VSC and Trac lights start blinking. After significant research I discovered that a cheap OBDII will reset the ECU and create other havoc with the lights. I finally found the picture you will see below and I thought - can't hurt - or maybe I prayed. At any rate it worked like magic. Use a small paper clip insert one end in the CG terminal and one in the TS terminal turn the car ON (do not start) and wait for the lights to blink quickly until the stop - and presto VSC and Trac lights are off. Paper clip in TS terminal and CG terminal. This picture I found in Google images is what I used to reset my light.

I recently had CEL, Trac off and VSC lights come on. I took care of the CEL with an O2 sensor replacement and now have Trac off and VSC lights still on. I believe that this means that the traction and stability system is disabled. My question is when you use this jumper procedure to clear the Trac off and VSC lights, does this enable the traction and stability system again.

Thanks to any that can help (2003 ES300)
