Halogen bulbs 2002 ES300??
Greetings all- First, I'm a newbie, so be kind.
Second, thank you in advance for any comments provided.
1. What are the stock replacement bulbs for ES 2002? I had read somewhere that they were 4200K which I find hard to believe. I'm interested in 'upgrading' my lighting package. But I don't want to spend the money if they are already 4200K.(At this time I really don't want to do the HID thing)
2. I've seen some bulbs that are not DOT approved. Has anyone you know of received a ticket for non-approved bulbs? I reside in Texas. (BTW, I'm looking to upgrade to a bulb between 4000K and 4500K).
3. How high of wattage can I go in my current 55W assembly. I've seen 60w and 70w bulbs. Am I asking for trouble?
4. I've seen some bulbs rated at 55w yet have an output of 100w. Does that exist? Pros and cons of using that type of bulb?
5. Does anyone know of step-by-step instructions of changing out bulbs (headlight and fog)? I'm looking for something with pictures and or video. Ideally I would like to start with low beam, high beam and fog (I've searched the forum and YouTube but perhaps I missed something)
6. Depending on what sales person you deal with, what experience have you had with Putco or PIAA bulbs?
7. Finally, I saw that Plasmaglow bulbs have a 10-year warranty? Is that true, sounds to good to be true.
Thanks again for your comments.

The low beam is H7 but if you have projectors then its an D2R, the high beam bulb its a 9005.
This is what i heard from replacing the 55W bulbs with 100W bulbs, first you might melt the housing, second you might fry the wiring.
I dont think you will get 4500K unless you go with HID unless you buy HIR but i yet to find those for sale anywhere.
I might be wrong, but i know somebody else will jump in here to help you out with more info.

Don't over think the idea of halogen bulbs too much. No need to go crazy with high wattage bulbs. The harness and housing isn't designed for them, they will burn out in a month, and they won't provide the same quality of light output.
The only time to really worry about wattage and temperature is when dealing with HID installation. As for the halogens I recommend either OEM replacement or Sylvania SilverStar Ultra. Putco and PIAA have some outstanding bulbs as well if you are able to buy those.
I can provide you with a quick video on how to install the lows/fogs. It's simple though.
Also, are you sure your bulbs are halogen? Check to see if you have a yellow warning label on the top of your headlights. If you don't have one than they are in fact halogen.
