Unintended Acceleration - Lexus ES 330
I am thinking about purchasing a used 2005 ES 330. The seller of the car claims that this car was not part of the recent Toyota recall for unintended acceleration. After reading over 100 complaints on the NHTSA website from owners of this car, I am nervous about purchasing this vehicle. I can live with the hesitation but I do not want a vehicle that is going to surge or speed out of control. My teenager will eventually be the driver of this car so I need something that it safe. For those of you that have this vehicle, have you ever experienced any unintended acceleration of any kind?
I'd also like to know if the hesitation problem that exists in this car tends to get worse as mileage increases. After driving the car for a day, I only noticed a hesitation on one occasion and it wasn't very bad. I can live with this problem as long as it doesn't get any worse over time.
I love the interior and overall refinement of this car and I can get it at a very good price. All of scary stories on the NHTSA website has got me concerned so I wanted to get some feedback from some current owners of this car.

The hesitation problem doesn't get worse over time. Asto the unintended acceleration problem, the es330 was never part of the recall, infact, the lexus/toyota unintended acceleration cases were deemed driver error, and not the fault of the car. The es series of the lexus line is one of the most reliable cars you will ever buy and since you live in Kentucky, rust, isn't a concern for you and thats the only real thing thats makes these cars go to the shop for unintended repairs.

^^ well said.
I believe some people are connecting the acceleration thing with the floor mat issue, because of that one incident where a technician installed the wrong floor mat in an ES350, which jammed the gas pedal down.

I understand your point, we really have to consider people's review regarding the brand of car we are planning to buy. Aside from that, I have learned that there are economic loss suits still pouring in from Toyota owners. Particularly, unintended acceleration ordeal couple of years ago, a number of current and previous owners have sued Toyota after they felt that their cars' resale prices were harmed by it. Hence, numerous Toyota economic loss suits are currently pending, as many feel the recalls have diminished the trade-in value.
