my original r12 leaked out a few years ago. i did a r132 swap on it from the local parts store but it leaked out every few months. i finally tried an ultraviolet dye and found my leak, high pressure switch was leaking THROUGH the electrical connector. $35 part and refilled my system and shes worked great ever since. the r132 swap was about $50 at the time for a couple cans of refrigerant, high and low side connector adapters and a filler hose with gauge.

standing in front of the car looking at the engine, one is on the left side near the passenger hood hinge in the back and the other is on the right side down low behind the drivers headlight area. real quick and simple conversion but make sure you have the leaks repaired first or you will be pouring money into the atmosphere like i did. you may want to have someone vacuum your system too, its recommended but you may get lucky like i did.

You can also probably use Freeze12 if you don't want to convert to R134. I've used it for several years now in my Cadillac with great success.

R12 is readily available on ebay and craigslist. It's best for system durability.

Freeze 12 is 80% R134a so it will degrade the long term durability of an R12 system just like pure 134a does.

And when he realizes the price and legal issue's involved with purchasing and possessing R12, Freeze12 will still be a more viable option.

93 Lexus - ac question - Had Freon put in ac - did not solve the problem. Sometimes ac just blows hot air, then the next time driven blows cold air.. What is this problem?

Sounds like a sticking expansion valve - a very common problem on mid 90's ES models. There have been numerous threads on this forum about this problem. Do a search.
