Went again to look at this car. For the first time I noticed the valve train being very noisy. Like excessively noisy. It has 75,000 on it and it is in pretty damn good shape. It appeared to be noisiest towards the left rear of the engine....right above the timing belt by the intake manifold. At least that's where it seemed to be coming from.

So I had them pull up another ES300, I think a 99, and started it and it was way quieter. Then they started up a RX300 and that was much quieter as well.

I am sure it's nothing major, but it was enough for me to not buy the car tonight.

Any ideas?
