I lowered mine with springs and I didn't get any camber issues. I didn't use stock struts, but the ones I bought were meant to replace them, meaning they weren't special lowering struts or anything.

I did notice a fair change in the ride itself; it's much rougher and bumpity whereas stock was a nice and smooth ride. I want to eventually go with coilovers.

you can use your stock shocks, but it will effect your performance in a negative way, but will look better...

  1. I assume you're wanting more negative camber since that's the popular stance nowadays. There's little to no negative camber to be gained on the 2ES ('92-'96) even with coilovers, and you certainly won't "gain" appreciable negative camber with lowering springs.
  2. You can use stock springs with lowering springs, however the spring rate won't be optimally matched with the damping of the shock and it will wear quickly. There are higher performance shocks (KYB GR-2, Tokico Blues are the most popular) that will withstand the lowering springs better/longer but they too will wear more quickly than normal. Coilovers have matched spring and strut pairing and will lower you AND last longer, but there is a price to pay (ride comfort, cash) for the improved looks.
Good luck and let us know which way you go.
