I have a 1996 Lexus es300. Check engine light is on for various reasons. Rides rough and a vacuum line was disconnected/blown off. Autozone said various cylinders were misfiring and I here a slight knocking engine noise when I first start the vehicle and drive. I had them clear the codes, then drove it around, then rechecked and 1,3,5 were misfiring.

I found this thread and I think it applies to my year/model.

Here is how mine WAS wired...this is wrong, right??

This is the CORRECT wiring for my 96 Lexus ES300. Everything I've seen on here says otherwise, but I found another guy with a 96 with the same wiring pattern.

If the image goes down and somebody stumbles across this...the front of the car from left to right (when looking under the hood) is 2,4,6 (3 coil packs); the back of the car from left to right is 1,3,5 (no coil packs). I don't know the firing order, but I know what connects to what, 1-4, 3-6, 5-2. Very strange wiring, but my lexus runs like a top now!

My issue was bad wires...they looked fine, but they were bad.
