Please don't yell at me. I searched and did not find the answer to my particular problem. The trunk release will not work for my 2001 ES300. The button inside, nor the key will open the trunk. It will try to, I'll hear a click, but it won't open. I have to manually use the key. The trunk lock button in the glove compartment is not activated, so that it not the problem. When I was at Lexus they wanted $120 just to look at it. I would rather fix it myself and save money. Thanks for the help.

Are you sure about the lock button in the glove compartment?
That is usually the problem.

Had this problem in my es.. but the problem was also accompanied by all of the trunk lid lights not working. Problem turned out to be the wiring leading up to the trunk lid. Check to see if it's torn.. if it is you will have to do some soldering.
