1MZ-FE VVT-i intake questions....
Ive been been a member for years and finally joined the Toyota family...
I recently purchased a 01' Avalon XLS with the dual throttle bodies. I understand that the 99-01 ES300 also uses this induction. At some point the Sienna, RX300, Highlander, ES300, and Avalon used this motor. Im not sure if any of the 02-06 Camry's had this set up ? Its seems that the production for the twin throttle 1MZ's is fairly low and only found on a couple years the engine was produced between 99-04 except for a 5 year run of the Gen Avalon. If anyone could speak further on this topic, please go ahead...
My question - Im interested in purchasing a Injen intake. Please do not go on about how it will suck warm air from under the hood. I have my reasons and you can keep yours. It seems I cant use the Injen IS2030P intake from the non VVT-i Camry/Solara/ES300, Can anyone verify this ? The IS2032P is listed for the 1MZ-FE VVT-i and 3MZ-FE but does not state if it will work for the twin throttle set up. I want to know if anyone with a 99-01 ES300 has used a Injen application ??
If not I understand that the Weapon R is the only choice, Right ?
Also this same engine is rated at 210HP/220Q on the ES300/Avalon. On the Highlander/RX300 its rated at 220HP/222TQ. Is there any physical difference between the two motors or does the difference have to do with running regular vs mid grade or premium gas ??

Lexus Test Driver
the 2002-2006 camry V6 and ES300/330 use a single throttle body. all ES models and the 2003+ camrys use a plastic upper intake plenum instead of the conventional metal one. These engines also use the drive by wire throttle system, so it has a computerized throttle unit instead of a conventional cable throttle body. I doubt you could swap the intake plenums between different 1mz engines because the engine has had many different updates and changes from different generations.
long story short, your only choice is the weapon R intake.
