Exclamation Shark-Fin Antenna Conversion

I have a '94 ES300, and I want to get rid of the antenna on the trunk and put a functioning antenna fin on the roof.

Is this possible?

It's definitely doable, I'm sure any shop that installs stereos would have no problem. They do something similar when you get satellite radio installed.

I personally wouldn't do it, the best antennas are the old-school retractable ones, much better reception. It seems like only cars that were designed from the factory to have the window antennas actually pull in a decent reception, but they still are not as good as a trusty antenna.

I had a classic car that I put one of those "hideaway antennas" in with a modern stereo, and I was lucky if I pulled in a handful of radio stations. I had to listen to CDs or MP3s, most local stations had way too much static.
