Default Anyone ever used the quick strut?

Hey all, I am looking at new struts for my 96 ES and I came across whats called the Quick Strut by Monroe? Anyone ever used or heard of these? I want to know if it is worth it, or if I should just do the whole compress spring etc fun stuff of buying a normal strut. Thanks in advance and any suggestions on struts for the 96 lemme know as well.

Here is a link for the quick strut; http://www.monroe.com/products/quickstrut.asp

Quick Struts are a quick easy way to go. Its all new and pain free. Just depends on if you wanna spend the extra money on the parts to save on the labor...

A "quick strut" is no different - it's just pre-assembled. It comes with the spring mounted to the shock. You don't need a spring compressor to do the job - much easier than having to compress the springs!

How does the ride quality of this Monroe setup compare to OEM? Is it stiffer or softer?

Usually these aftermarket brands have a bad reputation, and don't last as long.

I heard Monroes are not as good as KBY (From by mechanic). He said that Monroes are good with American cars, not japanese. He mentioned that although Monroe may give us much softer rides, it tends to give out pretty quickly (about 40-50k miles or so). However, KYB is a bit stiffer but it lasts longer (around 100k). Again, this is what I heard from the mechanic, so PLEASE do correct me if I get anything wrong. I am also looking to replace my 2 Front struts and thinking of using KYB. Can somebody give me some reviews regarding the KYB GR2 struts?

I've actually heard pretty much the same thing. KYB has an all around good reputation for being the "Costco" shock that gets the job done at a reasonable price. The GR-2 is the softer KYB shock (but probably still stiffer than stock), and the Gas A Just are the "stiffer" line of struts.

I actually prefer a soft ride for a car like this, and I would probably source OEM if I was replacing them. Being able to buy factory parts online has really made it reasonable, no way I would pay a dealership retail price for a part like this.

Why would anyone want a stiffer ride in our cars?
