Unhappy new battery & car still won't start

I was cleaning my car (2005 ES330) and left the key in the on position and killed my battery. The neighbor came over to jump my car and he put the jumper cables on wrong and had me to try and start my car about 6 times..the cables were on about 1 1/2 minutes before he realized they were backwards, after he corrected it my car still wouldn't start. My dad took me and I bought a new battery and my car still won't start....I have no dash lights inside except the seatbelt light and the check engine light. The dome, door and headlights work. My seats, windows, radio....nothing else works, I do have some fuses that blew and I need to replace those, but my brother mentioned the computer....could the neighbor have shorted out my computer and is this something I can have my dad fix or does it need to go the dealer? Around how much does this cost? BTW, my car ran just fine before all of this.
Thanks for any help,
Kelly

Don't panic.

All circuits, including the computer are protected by fuses, so you should be OK. Start by identifying and changing ALL of the blown fuses, and re-evaluate your situation only than.

Pay close attention to the 120 amp alternator fuse, it is located in the fuse box on the driver side of the engine compartment. This fuse also supplies power to many other components. With the jumper cables hooked up backwards, you could easily have blown this fuse.
