This is my first post. I performed a search and could not find a thread related to my problem.

I own a 2002 ES 300. It drives great! Today, however, I seem to be having a problem disengaging the alarm (anti-theft) system. I entered the Lexus using my key. When I insert it into the ignition switch, nothing happens, i.e., no dash lights come on and the engine does not crank.

For what it's worth, the interior anti-theft indicator light blinks constantly. When I try to disarm the alarm using my key, the car lights do not blink and no sound is heard. This just started today.

Any suggestions?

Sounds like there's something wrong with the transponder in the key that's preventing the car from starting. Do you have another key (a key with the lock/unlock buttons on it) that you can try?

Have tried another key. Thanks for your response. The little red lights come on the keys when the buttons are pushed.

Sorry! Battery was dead. REALLY dead. Now have to figure out why year-old battery is so dead.

Sometimes a defective battery or maybe a button was pushed while in your purse and drained the battery prematurely. Good luck, glad you found out your problem and letting us know what it was.
