Question Bulb Burnt out

I searched, but maybe not thoroughly enough, but i need to know how to remove the shift plate for a 2001 es300. All the letters 1-9 by the actual shifter no longer light up, and im sure its easy to replace, but just need to figure out how

Which part?

The part that lights up the gear selector??

If so, its easy, and all you need is your key.

You pry between the wood trim piece [it comes off as a whole] and pry in a few spots, its only like 4 clips holding it on.

Then you have to carefully slide it out from under the ashtray to get some working room.

Now where the bulb is, is a very tight squeeze, it took me about 5mins and much frustration to take the old one out and put my led in.

But it is a #74 bulb, like in the glove box and around the key ring. Same size.

GL. I don't have pics of this from my LED retrofit, but you can be rough and not worry. Mind you i also have a cluster with the seat heaters so you can pop those out to maneuver the wood trim a little more.

Yea, they 'pop' out.

Took me 5 mins, but it was frustrating since it sits in a very 'narrow' tunnel, if you will, and it was a matter of shifting finger to get a grip on it.

I did an LED retrofit so all my stuff was from eBay. Its worth a shot at the parts store, should be a 'common' bulb in older cars for clusters/misc. lighting needs.

The green is a little condom that sits over the bulb, well in my car it was. So you can swap it over.
