Default Any way to remove gold plating on emblems? or should I just debadge?

I have a 98 ES300 that orginally came with gold emblems.
Well it's 12 years old now and gold has been out for some time.
I really want to go back to silver but I don't know if it's possible to just remove the gold or I would have to buy new silver emblems from the dealer.
I would hate to do that as it can get expensive.
A second possibility is to completely debadge it but I am not sure if there are holes in the metal.

Anyone know?

EDIT: I just thought of another possibility
is it possible to spray black paint onto the emblems and then spray lacquer to seal in the paint? Will this chip or flake off?

if you debadge the rear one, i know definitely has a hole that kinda keeps it in place before the glue... i took my L off and it has that big hole for now until i replace it with a custom emblem, just haven't found the right site to get it created

I see.
Do you know if the rear side emblems on the trunk have holes underneath as well? If not, I might just remove the sides and maybe just buy a new L emblem.

That's perfect!
Thanks.

I was wondering, is it possible to spray paint black onto the emblems and then spray lacquer to seal in the paint?
