try to look up the wiring harness for the scion and for the es and see if they are the same... if they are then it should just be plug and play.. the only thing you might have a problem with is the factory amp... but not too sure

You don't like the look of the aftermarket one, but you like the look of THAT? Silver buttons and a backlight that doesn't match the green on the ES?
It won't be a direct swap, as it will not directly slide into the stock ES tray. Additionally, the face plate won't fill up the space covered by the stock radio unit, so you'll need some sort of shield or else you'll be staring back into your wiring components.
IMO, it'll look really tacky. I'm sure you can find an aftermarket system you like better - what about one of the ones with widescreen navigation? Those should come with mp3 playback/storage, and it'd look much better than a cheap radio from a cheap car.

i would probably have to agree^^^^
if you got some cash to spend then you cant go wrong with a double din... i know mine is a little differant from your year but it would kindof look like this i guess..
it fits nice and depending on what you buy you could change colors of your choice. have dvd, navigation, aux. anything you want pretty much all in one.. and plus it improves the sound of your factory speakers too..

a big reason i wanted to keep a stock look and not go after market is becuase alotta people break into cars in my area, dont feel like spending $500 on a stereo and getting it stolen overnight, i def dont need any of that other bs, a double din that doesnt look like a circus of diff color lights would be nice
