Default Need help understanding RPM on a 94 Lexus es300

I was driving on the highway last night, only driving 60 mph. And I noticed that my rpm was at 3000 and wasnt shifting down. Is that normal for a 94 lexus es300 or should I get the tranny serviced ??? Any suggestion would be appreciated. Thanks

At 60 mph you should have been at around 2250 rpm.

Sounds like your OD did not even kick in.

@ Capnfred - It happens everytime im on the highway. I was thinking about flushing the tranny or getting it serviced

@ PFB - I usually drive with my OD off, do you think that the problem is that I should drive with the OD on??

It happens everytime im on the highway.
Do you mean that it (no 3rd-OD upshift) happens ONLY when you're on the highway?

Drive with the O/D on or it will not upshift.

It could be time for a tranny fluid flush along with the filter. If you want to DIY, it's not that hard. The filter costs about $30+.

Thanks to everyone who helped me solve my problem, I had to turn on the O/D and it shifted to 2250 while during 60 yesterday. Now i'm having a problem with the O/D light flashing every time I turn it on. If anyone can tell me whats going on I will appreciate it ?
