Default radio problem or sound system

We have a 2004 Es 330 lexus. When the car is parked, with the radio on and the sound is equalized (front and back, right and left) it works great, but when we are on the road driving the sound cuts on and off. Sometimes quite unbearable.
any suggestions what could be wrong??

Could be dirty Volume control switch. With Radio OFF, pull out Volume **** and spray some contact cleaner inside. Replace ****, and rotate switch back and fourth several times. Repeat if necessary.

See if this solves your problem.

Is it an aftermarket setup? If it is it can be a couple of things. I dont think thats a good idea pfb no offense I wouldn't spray anything but air in there.

I Posted this question on another sight . This is the answer I receved back. Does this make sense?? Also where is this amp located? Is it hard to get at?

Mark Levinson speakers cutting in and out
Question: We have a 2004 ES 330 Mark Levinson system in our Lexus. We had a problem originally the speaker in front left side (drivers) did not work. To remedy that problem a mechanic jumped the back drivers side speaker to front speaker. Now as we are driving all the speakers cut in and out intermittently, however when it is parked the speakers work until you turn volume up quickly then they cut in and out again
Answer: TURN OFF HE RADIO !!!

that was a very bad idea, you have a bad channel on the amplifier, that can be repair,
but if you wire 2 speaker on 1 channel of the amplifier, you are going to damage it a lot more,
the amplifier needs to be repair

the amplifier is cutting off because of the 2 speaker on the same channel

QUESTION: What do you suggest? Disconnect the jumper wire and buy a a new amp??
Answer: Remove the jumper and find a repair service center that will fix it
or you can buy a rebuild unit from oemautosound.com
Where is this amp? What is a rebuild?

It is not an after- market set-up.

It does sound like the amp is you're problem but getting it fixed is going to be a pain.(trying to find someone to do it and the price) Its even going to be hard to find a new one thats not alot of $. And if you go aftermarket you have to replace all the speakers also rewire it. What ever way you go its going to cost alot. But you can just take off what that guy did and not have that speaker work but that sucks too. Good Luck
