installed 01 es300 hid headlamp to 97 es300 pics !
I'm not sure if anybody have done this here, but I finally finished upgrading my headlights to HID on my 97 es300. I decided to buy the HID headlamp assembly off an 00-01 ES300 because some people have reported glaring problems when using the stock headlights. I also thought the newer housing looked better in appearance, and sometimes you can get pretty good deals on ebay so why not... (hid headlamp assembly + stock ballast + phillips bulbs = 350 bucks for the whole pair).
I did have to do some modification on the weather seal covers on the back of the assembly and splice some power cables around so that cost around 20 bucks or so . All in all it's a pretty straightforward job putting the headlight assembly in. I did have to do some modification for the headlight assembly to fit. Since the assembly includes the ballast mounts, it is actually slightly taller than the stock housing. I had to roll some of the metal frames to make it fit.
Also installed HID fogs while I was at it
halogen headlamp and hid headlamp
Red circle is where I had to roll the metal down so the headlight assembly could fit in

WOW! Great job!
It looks awesome! If i happen to come across a set for my car, i will refer back on what part to modify.
Its not that they're not 'around' its just that they are stupid expensive. This was my plan, but again 350 IMO = expensive. For that coin i can get some OEM slightly used headlights and projectors for a retrofit - cost benefit /= imo. Then again i am a firm believer in OEM is best and i think these look awesome so in either case i would still hold out for an OEM set.
