Default 2005 es330 after-market stereo install

Hi folks, I"m brand new to the forum. Hoping to get some advice. I have the base stereo system in my 05 es330. No Mark Levinson, no navigation. I would love to replace it (or have it replaced) with a new head unit with GPS and bluetooth. I'm being told by almost everyone I've asked that it's extremely difficult. Can anyone tell me why an after market head unit the same size would not simply fit my car? Can anyone tell me if my unit is DIN or double DIN? Thanks so much, really appreciate the info.

Also....if anyone is from my area (Uxbridge, MA) and knows an experienced installer who has worked on Lexus', I'd love to know.

Here you go it is expensive and takes a lot of "non" lexus parts but it is possible to do it and it is better than stock GPS.
This is picture of my install. I have pioneer navigation with bluetooth, DVD and XM satellite radio.

Thanks so much dario, pics look great. But can you give me any more details? Did you do the installation or have it professionally done? Can you share the cost of the installation? Do you know the size of the stock head unit - DIN, double DIN?

1) Lexus Double Din Face Plate (LEXUS Part #: 5540533230)
--if you want, you can just use the brackets and screws that are currently holding in your standard radio as these will fit the double din as well..otherwise you will need to purchase those.

ABOUT $130 at the Lexus dealer

2) Wiring Harness: Metra TYTO-01
--this worked great with integrating into the factory amplified system you have..it does not list being compatible with Lexus but I can assure you it works in my car, as this is the part that Metra Technical support told me to use. Now this does not have a dimmer wire which means that when you turn on lights at night your GPS will not dim. What I did is wire it directly into headlights and wolaaaaa it works

ABOUT $60 plus shipping on EBAY.com

3) Trim Piece: Metra 95-8202
--as mentioned earlier, there is about a 1/2 inch gap on each side of the aftermarket unit when placed in the Lexus Double Din Radio Faceplate....these trim pieces fill in these gaps REALLY well....they almost look factory. I also noticed about a millimeter gap between the top and bottom which I filled in with a piece of felt..(really minor gap...maybe not even noticeable)

ABOUT $15 DOLLARS plus shipping

Those are the parts and parts numbers that you will need to install DOUBLE DIN navigation into 2002-2006 LEXUS ES300/330 cars. Anyone who has installed basic radio should be able to install this properly but I would recommend professional installation since the harness does not come with dimmer and you have to integrate it yourself. Next most of the aftermarket navigation will need to be bypassed to be able to input data and watch movies (not recommended) while you drive. Each brand has different bypass instruction follow your brand instructions. I added LEXUS pictures to background too so it looks like factory. Average charge for labor install should be about $100-$150 dollars if you have all parts. I also added IPOD cable and it is located in my glove box.

Hole lee crap....I was thinking if anyone actually had done this before. Guess I found my answer. Also did you install all this yourself or have it done for you?

Hi. I'm new to this board, so would appreciate any help.

I have a 2005 ES-330 and am trying to figure out what stock radio I have. I don't think it's a Mark Levinson, but it does have a 6-disc changer. Is it definitely a Pioneer? Also, is there a way to see what the power rating on it is and whether my car has an amp?

The reason is that I'm trying to install a new stereo and need to figure out whether I need a harness or not. Also, is it preferable to bypass the amp if I have one or not?

Thanks for your help.
