There are two t screws on each side of the steering wheel under a plastic cover that you must pop out. Remove these screws - airbag comes off and then unhook connector. This has been covered before. Do a search.

Make sure that you disconnect the battery and give it a few mins to discharge before proceding. One other point, place the airbag FACE UP whenever you put it on any surface. IE table, benchtop, etc. If the bag deploys you want the bag to coming at you, as opposed to having the metal mounting plate on the back of the unit coming at you.
A subtle point, but very important. This was much more important on the first generation bags, but still holds true today.
