Default 2000 ES 300 and code P0171 and Tracs light...

I was driving my wifes ES 300 around last night to try and "find a noise" when on the highway I got the CEL and the Tracs indicator both came on at the same time. This morning I was able to get the code red and the P0171 was what I came up with.

I don't know yet what the code means as I'm not up on Lexus codes as of yet so any help here would be much appreciated.

I need to find out what the code refers to and why the Tracs light came on at the same time. The two lights could be unrelated and just coincidental that they both came on at the same time, I don't know yet. What can throw the Tracs light, a module, a wheel sensor?

P0171.pdf

The Tracs comes on when the CEL comes on, so for the time being, you should ignore the TRACS and repair the CEL. Start with checking all the vac hoses for cracks and splits. Make sure all are hooked up properly. The next thing to do would clean the MAF, especially if you have a K&N style filter (excess oil from these filters can contaminate the MAF).

That highway noise, is a good indication of a vac leak.

Thanks for the pdf GEORGE, my initial thought was an O2 sensor but we'll see. I'll focus on the vacuum hoses as I changed plugs yesterday but I'm pretty certain everything was right when I was done but you never know.

In my cars I run K&N filters but this car uses the OEM and it's clean. The noise is a rattle that I first thought was a heat shield but now I'm looking at the upper torque arm bushing to replace it. Is that bushing a dealer only item?
