The FSM says to drop the subframe which is probably the easiest way, though it may be possible, but not worth doing, to take it out the other way.
Why are you taking out the automatic/manual transmission, out of curiosity?

if you have an engine hoist, you may be able to loosen the motor mounts and pull the engine/transmission up an inch or two, which might enable you to get the transmission out without touching the subframe.

Thanks for your help. The reason for taking out the transmission is cause the gears are slipping it pick up but only when it feels like it. The car is at 123,000 miles and started to act up on Saturday and was getting worse so I was able to get a jdm transmission for $320.00.

That's redundant. JDM = Japanese Domestic Market - so of course it's imported if you don't live in Japan.

oh no, don't take it as me being rude or anything - I just hear a lot of people throwing around "JDM" in ways that dont apply, like buying "JDM lights from china." So I thought I'd clear that up.

Let us know how the drop goes.
