Default single din vs double din

so this summer i want to replace my stock headunit.. and ive been debating whether to spend some cash and get a nice double din dvd type headunit or a single din and save some money... i havent seen many pictures of single din headunits in the 97-01 es and i want to see more. all i have seen is double din.. anyone want to share pictures of a single din es aftermarket headunit they installed?

Well, single DIN with a screen will fold up and block your air vents!

Do you have the wood finish? If so, would be hard to match.

Double din definitely looks better in the ES, IMO. So, since you have a working (albeit stock) system now but can't really afford a double din at the moment, and since you agree a double din (if you had the money) would be preferable, then why not put off getting a new headunit for a while until you can afford the one you really want, instead of settling for a single din sooner only b/c it's cheaper?
I say, save up a little longer and be happier in the end.

I was thinking about doing the same. I came across a Kenwood ddx512 which sells on eBay for $285 shipped. It is a double din, you can select illumination color to match your dash, and it is expandable once you save more money i.e. nav, bluetooth, back up cameras, etc.
If you can spare an extra $150, Eclipse avn-20d is the best bang for the buck. From what I saw, it has 2 cd slots (nav and CD), it lights up green just like the Lex interior, and even the buttons look like our oem buttons now.

Very true. I almost settled on a single din Pioneer unit instead of my double-din AVIC unit, and I am soooooo happy I did not.

If you really want a double-din, save up for it and don't settle for less.
