So I was driving home from work tonight here in the Chicago burbs and the snow has been coming down pretty steady all day. The roads were all covered and I got to test out my new Michelin MXV4 Primacy tires nicely. On some long straight roads I wanted to play around with the brakes and see exactly what happens during full braking where ABS is doing all the work. So I do it and the back end begins to kick out so I counter steer to keep me from going off the road. At the moment when the car got about as sideways as I wanted to let it a beeping tone sounded. The VSC and traction lights were obviously illuminated as I was pretty much going sideways. This is the first time I have heard some sort of warning tone given out by the car in the 10,000 miles I have owned it. Does anyone know what this is and what its for? All I can think of is some sort of safety alarm tone to alert the driver the car is in some sort of very unusual attitude. Sounded kinda cool I guess lol

Anyone else experience this warning tone in their ES300's? My car is a 2000 ES300 Platinum all options.
BTW, the car drives excellent in the snow and I can now say I am very pleased with these Michelin Primacy tires in summer and winter.

I've never heard this. And i've been in an 99 ES300 that we were doing reverse donuts with my buddy. And my 2001 i always 'drift' leaving work, using the parking brake and icy lot

Good to know. Then again with a FWD car i guess i never 'drifted it' that extremely to trigger VSC & Trac. ALso i've driven thru some bad *** snow storms and never had these lights go off... hmm...

Well im trying to think which lights were blinking I know for sure the traction one (triangle with skid marks) maybe that was it I cant remember but all I know is I was braking and the back started to swing out and I heard this alarm tone and I was like what the heck. I even had to do it a second time to make sure it wasnt like from the radio or something. Well anyway just thought I would make a post as I have never heard such a thing in any car I have owned.

I'm pretty sure it's the vehicle skid control letting you know that it is attempting to take corrective action with the car.

Yes, that is the stability control system telling you it's on the job. Our Highlander has done that a few times. There is a complicated yawl sensor that tells it that the car is traveling sideways, not in the same direction as the tires are pointed.

Wasn't VSC an option on the 3ES's?
