Hey family I have a question do the 2000 ES300 use Toyota Type IV or Dexron for the transmission the owners manual says nothing about it

OK thank you, now im going to change the fluid myself, how many quarts will I need to drain and fill the transmission including the torque converter??? I was thinking 4 quarts????

The only way you could be able to get all the fluid from the torque converter would be to have a flush service performed. Just a drain and fill will not drain the converter.

REPLACE ATF


(1) Remove the drain plug and drain the fluid.
(2) Reinstall the drain plug securely.



(3) With the engine OFF add new fluid through the oil filler pipe.

Fluid type: ATF type T-IV
Capacity Drain and Refill: 3.10 Liters (3.3 US qts, 2.8 Imp. qts)


(4) Start the engine and shift the shift lever into all positions from P to L position and then shift into P position.



(5) With the engine idling, check the fluid level. Add fluid up to the COOL level on the dipstick.
(6) Check the fluid level at the normal operating temperature, 70 - 80 °C (158 - 176 °F) , and add as necessary.

NOTE: Do not overfill.

CHECK FLUID LEAKS
Check for leaks in the transaxle. If there are leaks, it is necessary to repair or replace O-rings, gasket, oil seals, plugs or other parts.

perfect thanks, but is it safe to do a transmission flush??? I hear horror stories of people who did the service and ended up having to replace there transmission after it. ( my car has 107000 miles on it)

My advice would be to NOT do a flush if it has never been done before.
