ES300 offset
I need help guys. I know I've been asking this but I really wanted to know more. I was planning on buying aftermarket rims for my 1999 ES which I was debating between 18's or 17's. I was deciding to go for 18's. Do you think I will make the right decision? But I am worried the rear tires might rub. Any recommended offsets for both sizes?I need your opinions please...

Basically if your going with a 7.5" width:
Strut spring setup: you can go with an offset ranging from +9 to +46
if your going with an offset closer to a +9 your going to need to shave your fenders cause the wheel is going to be pretty flush with the fender. if your going with an offset closer to +46, your going to get close to your strut anything more then you may be rubbing your struts. I would not suggest going with the +46; i just put that out there for reference. If going with the +46, your wheels are going to look like a sunken battleship. I didnt really take tire size into consideration and this is based off my fitment with a 9" +27.5 ( its really an 8" with a +40 but i have a 25mm spacer) on a 215/35/18 tire. Since i was not stretched these numbers should work for you too. Try these numbers at your own risk, since this is based off my fitment.
I figured that with a shaved fender you can have a wheel with 85mm from the mounting point to the fender, but it wont look nice unless your dropped because your wheels will be sticking pass the fenders if not. But with the way the suspension moves you should not rub with low profile tires anyways. From the mounting point to the strut is about 142mm so running a wheel with 140mm on a low profile tire should work.
Charley240 was able to get more agressive due to being cambered so he was able to run 89mm from the mounting point to the fender.
If one of the wheel guru sees an error based on my calculations please chime in.

Now that's not even reading the threads really. Second for a 17*7.5" rim you want to go 15mm-50mm offset 9mm is to aggressive and your gonna rub even after grinding your rears and rolling your fronts. Now for an 18*8" rim you want a 21mm-50mm offset. If you can go with a 18*8.5" rim like I did you will want a 27mm-38mm offset. Now if you DARE go with a 19*9" you need 32mm offset. Finally DON'T go with 215/35/18's for tires that would make your speedo read 6.1% to fast. For 17" you need 215/50/17. For 18" you need 225/40/18. For 19" you need 225/30/19. Oh and please don't take this the wrong way but you NEED to learn to search of you will never get all of the answers. It's very easy to do just click search on the blue bar above, then advanced search, then on the left hand side type in what you want, then on the right select the section you want to search, now just hit search and BAM you've got answers.
