Default 2003 ES300 Climate Control LED Burnt Out

I just noticed (tonight) that the switch that controls the passenger side temp and the switch that controls the "mode" on my climate control is not illuminating anymore. The LCD display, and the other switches still illuminate, just not those two switches. I looked at the threads that covered the issue of burned out LED's with older generations of ES models, but did not find any for the 02-06 models. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, where did you get your replacement LED's? And how difficult would it be to remove the climate control display and re-solder the new LED's in for someone whose soldering experience is limited to soldering wires on relays and audio jacks. Thank you for any help/advice.

I haven't had mine pulled out, But im pretty sure it isn't an LED, But rather a small bulb, Like those used in some cluster assemblies. Just pull out the HVAC Assy, and pop the bulb out and get a replacement at the part store.

Thanks guys I'm so relieved to hear that it is not an LED. Hopefully I will be able to get around to fixing it sometime before this weekend.

OK, I tried to remove my HVAC controls yesterday, but could not figure it out. I removed the trim piece/ash tray from around the shifter; and looked for screws that might be holding it in, but did not find any. So I just tried pulling it out, and the bottom tried to pop out, but the top would not budge. I was afraid I would break something, so i stopped pulling.

Does anyone know what I might be doing wrong?

Do I just need to pull harder or am I missing some other steps?

I tried searching, but did have any luck.

Im pretty sure it just pops out. Take a flat head screwdriver wrap it in a good cloth and try to stick it in the sides near the top portion to pry it out and overcome the clips.

Send a PM to Lexucan here in CL. He has many links to DIY (Do it Yourself) and may be able to help.

I just changed mine on a 2002 ES 300 because the mode button and the fan button doesn't light as well.
- The Climate unit just pops out
- Mine was one bulb that I brought from Lexus for $8

cool thanks, I just got it out this morning and the dealer is going to have to order the bulb for me. I think I am going to go on and order them all since I will have out already.

I was also wondering if anyone knew if it is possible to replace the bulbs with the white colored bulbs like in the LS430?

Thank You all for your help I went ahead and ordered all 8 bulbs (even though only 3 were burnt out) and replaced them all. Everything is lit up now.

How much were these bulbs? And is the dealership the only place you can buy these?

Also, if bulbs are out on the stereo, is this the same procedure to have them working again?
