have a 1999 es300 that cant rev past 3-4k rpm

couple weeks ago the car engine light popped up and it would stop going past 3-4k rpm, on the highway it cant speed up... im assuming this is limp mode ?

got the code read, came out to be knock sensor bank 1, decided to replace both of them. cleared the code, drove a few miles and check engine light came back on. this time reading MAF sensors (mass air fuel ratio) on bank 1 sensor 1 (manifold sensor, infront of engine).

Could that be the reason? I was told the MAP sensor (air intake) could also be bad?

If the code tells you whats not working, it is probably that part.

not always the case,

other broken sensors or parts could throw up the wrong codes as well

bring it to a dealership and ask them to just do a diagnostic. If its something you can fix yourself then bring it home and fix it. If not then decided whether or not its worth investing in or buying a new car. GL!

My Car is doing the same thing can even drive in regular traffic as it will accelerate very very slowly. I think my problem is a bad ecu as it will not give anycodes, yet the check engine light is on. If you find out please post. I will do the same. I am also wondering if my cat is clogged not letting the air through and causing it to choke. will post when I get it fixed. Any ideas welcome!!
