Default 02 ES300 Check Engine, dies on idle.

07/04/08 Today I took a 400 mile trip to visit mom in No. California.
Filled up with Shell 87 Octane as usual and this time added 1 bottle of STP Fuel Injection Cleaner to the tank. Thought I'd clean out the injectors. Car ran fine almost all the way and the last 40 miles or so the check engine light comes on. Got about 25mpg most of the way. After I arrived, I ran a quick errand to the store. Car started fine, idled fine etc. CEL still on. When I got back, I disconnected battery and waited like 30 minutes. When I started it back up the light went off. Then the car died which NEVER Happens. I tried to start it and it tries to start, but will only stay on if I keep my foot on the gas. I drove it down the street a block and it died when I can to a stop sign. Will only remain on while my foot is on the gas. Dies at idle. So now the CEL is back on and if I start in park and keep my foot on gas, it seems to be fine, no cutting out, no loss of power when I accelerated down the block, but when parked, won't stay on. Oil level ok. All wires seem fine, A/C worked all day in 90 degree drive so I am now stuck. Hopefully I can get it to an Autozone tomorrow to see what the code is. Any ideas? And yes, the gas cap was on tight. I checked fuses for fuel injection they are fine.

Thanks in advance.

This morning I started the car and it still died when I took my foot off gas while in Park. I kept it running by keeping my foot on the gas and then took it to nearest gas station (SHELL) and filled it with 91 octane Premimum ($4.89/gallon yikes).

Car died while pulling up to pump. NO CHECK ENGINE light this time.

I started it up, and had to kepp my foot on gas to keep it running, and took it for a 20 mile drive. When I came to my first stop, it was idling too low (200) and now it back to about 500 and seems to be smooth. No check engine. Car is if as nothing ever happened.

Temperature outside is 59 degrees. This all happened yesterday while driving all day at 104 down to 90 degrees towards the end of day outside as it is cooler as I drove north 400 miles.

Any clues? I think I will take it to Autozone at 8:00am when they open in one hour and see if there is a code even though check engine light is now off.

07/06/08 Sorry nobody thought a suggestion, lot's of lookie lou's but no tips or ideas. Wonderful....

It was BAD FUEL. CEL went out, drove another 200 miles yesterday after fill up with Premium fuel and it's fine. So just a word of caution that lousy fuel can throw this car into shock...
