Default Transmission leak

I have transmission fluid leak comming from where the axle goes into the transmission. Not much of a mechanic. What would be the name of this seal? Transfer case axle seal? I don't want to sound like an idiot talking to the mechanic.

If the axle shaft seal is leaking, it is also possible the bearing may be on its way out, or already bad causing the axle shaft to wobble and damage the seal.

Is there any noises or vibration when driving the car?

What year ES do you have and what kind of mileage?

I think I remember it is called front differential oil seal. If you take this photo below to the parts department and ask them for the seal that goes there, they should be able to help you. I just looked up your vehicle but couldn't track down the precise part due to lack of a visual diagram. The par is not expensive at all from my recollection.

If that indeed is the part that you need than it is Lexus part No: 9031140028

Hope that helps,

Phil

Thanks guys. I can't get over there until Monday so I should know then.
Im not so sure by the picture you posted, but like I said Im not mechanic. To explain where it is maybe a little better.

Its to the south of the transmission pan, and to the right a little, probably right below where your feet would be in the car(or a little north of that). There is shaft that plugging into the right side of the transfercase and thats where its leaking. There was a picture of the exact same leak I remember seeing on one of the forums but I can not for the live of me find it now.

It's not the front differential drain plug (plug on the left)?

No dont think so, its definately coming from where the shaft inserts into the case. I think its the same as the pic you showed me, but maybe just the other side.

I Have a leak coming from this area were the axle pushes into the transmission I've already replaced with the correct Lexus certified dealer axle seal but did not work I've concluded the transmission itself got damaged in my D.I.Y project. Is there anything I can do myself to repair this or is it time to give in and go to a shop

Exclamation

Do you have a trusted / reliable mechanic that you can take the car to in order to confirm exactly what the issue(s) is / are?
