2000 Es 300 Vsc Vsc Off Check Engine

Hi Kelvin84;
My apologies if the throttle position sensor did not completely solve the engine issue, but after 100,000 miles, a car should get better fuel economy and response with a new one.
Our 1997 es300 had whitish smoke and a strange sulfur smell that usually indicates a catalytic converter problem, and it turned out to be the fuel filter was plugging up.
Any properly running modern car exhaust should smell the same, so if you can compare the smell of your dad's Lexus to the smell of your own car, you will have an idea of if it smells more like raw gasoline than yours.
A lean condition can be caused by too much oxygen, or not enough fuel as perceived by the PCM computer in the car. I was just hoping that your nose could be used as another sensor to help with diagnosis. Sorry for your trouble!
