car issues, laggy accel, dies when going into gear
I have a 94 es300, put a new engine in it about 3k miles ago. Was driving it today and it died while rounding a parking lot. It starts up allright, and idles fine, but dies when it goes into gear. I was thinking the torque converter was locked up in it or something, but the issue is with the engine. sitting in park, if you press the gas quickly it bogs really badly, but if you feather the gas it'll build up and smooth out RPMs around 2k and higher. I'm going to start with a new fuel filter tomorrow, and try to find a listing of codes, since I have a check engine light on. Anyone had this problem?

there are definete things to check for those symtoms. its not a total mystery yet.
what have you checked so far?
i would investigate the fuel pump or things related to fuel delivery,
the exhaust for a leak,
the intake sensors / intake leak,
02 sensors,
egr valve/egr system function,
tps
[i just posted that in the knock sensor thread, guy is having same prob as you]

im putting a pressure gauge on the fuel line tomorrow. Unfortunately I don't think I can get a fuel pressure reading on the rail anywhere as I haven't seen any type of hookup to do that, but I may end up rigging something up if everything checks out ok with the pump and filter. I'll go back over the exhaust and intake manifold, but since I put this motor in recently and replaced all the gaskets it's not as likely. The egr system was taken apart and cleaned well so I'm putting it at the bottom of the list as well. Hopefully it's just a weak fuel pump or clogged filter
