17 - not listed, engine would probably not be running if that code came up, low numbers are critical codes.

71 EGR System.

Default Is it 17 or 71?

I had copied the codes for OBD1 on a word doc. And I had thought that this would end up being the EGR! Thanks for brain storming for me, and good luck pulling wrenches. You made me think back, "The check light does not begin to flash until the key is turned on. I will pay closer attention and run the test again and see for sure if the 1 comes up before the 7 or if it could be vise versa, and thus the EGR.
Thanks again.

Are knock sensors even relevant in a stock Lexus? Mine has never knocked and I don't need a cel to tell me it's knocking.

I was getting the bank 1 random misfire code, IAC circuit fault, and MAF circuit fault, hard starts and bad gas mileage. This all stemmed from changing the air cleaner filter. Ipart of the problem was starting the car right after while the MAF was accidentally left unplugged and the other more serious issue was a tear in the air cleaner duct. I just swapped it for a piece of pipe and it's back to its former glory. It's worth mentioning I have a lot of blow-by but that's what you get on a cat this neglected

I'm bumping this thread again because it has some awesome information that I desperately needed! I've only always had OBD II cars so this is a whole new experience for me, haha.

Thank you!!

Okay guys - did the jumper thing and I get the engine light flashing all the time - no pauses. Would a guy want to just check the connections to the ECU or just pony up and get a new ECU. Car is not running right now as I replaced the fuel injectors and have had two more sent as replacements and they both leaked badly. So waiting on another replacement so I can hopefully get the car turned around so I can get to the passenger side. Damned one car garages!

Have a 1992 Lexus SC300 approximately a hundred seventy thousand miles on it replace transmission shift solenoids to shift solenoids and one lock up still not shifting into overdrive feels like I have 1st gear 2nd gear and like a low 3rd if that makes any sense like it just won't shift higher almost feels like the car is in limp mode but I was told by Lexus of Omaha at 92 does not have limp mode so does this car have a actuator shift solenoid I thought I seen 5 solenoids when we did the shift solenoids and lock up the overdrive off light went out but the problem still persists please help I'm kind of at a loss already rebuilt the ECU and did not to drain and fills and it's card does not slip I have reverse 1st 2nd and it'll shift to 3rd but I just really sluggish so I don't know if I should just test the ignition coils and everything else I need some pointers please I hate to say it but I'm getting desperate

Default Trouble code 42

So they transmission shop in Omaha they got trouble code 42 which is the vehicle speed sensor so and I have problems with it not shifting into higher gear so do I need a vehicle speed sensor or is it the one that has the two wires going out of it for the automatic transmission so I'm kind of confused on what I should do here
