Default Car shuts off on inclines...

My dad's 95 ES ran perfectly fine for past year or so, we even had a new transmission put in when it gave him problems.

Car idles perfectly in park and neutral, but when I put it in drive its acting like it is choking. When I try to go it'll be jerking forward until it gets up and going...which still feels like it lacks power at wide open throttle.

So I was tinkering around to see if it was in all the gears, even reverse...it was. I drove around a bit more and the jerking got somewhat better as car warmed up, so I decided it pull it up into my garage to check it out...my driveway to garage is on a 45deg incline. Right as I pulled up onto it, the car died and would not turn back on until I neutraled on flat surface...then started up just fine(still jerked).

There is no check engine light or any type of O/D light on at any time. Any ideas what it may be? Lack of fuel? I have not looked into the car much today, but if anyone has experienced this please share..

Sounds like a vacuum leak.

If it were a vacuum leak then the car would idle much higher, car idles just like normal at 900-1000rpm...

If your Intake is cracked at all and there is a vacuum leak then you would have an idle around 500 rpms...

No. Normal idle speed is 750 with an automatic. If there is a vacuum leak the rpms will jump up and down.

From general automitve stance, I agree with the intake tubing leak hypothesis. The guys who posted before me probably know more about hte common problems with this car than I do since I'm new here. I would tell you the fuel hypothesis was also good, too.

If its only doing it on a hill. Id have to guess a fuel related problem. Possibly from the fuel pump or something.

Well thats what I mean, it idles what it normally does. I've ran cars with vacuum leaks and it is not this bad. If I'm going up hill, the car is jerking like a giant mechanical dog trying to hump the road in front of it.
