do you still have to use the hair dryer like the DIY to get to the amber diffusers?
i remember when i changed my taillight bulbs i seen a few small screws on the backside of the taillight housing , are you talking about those screws?
btw i drive a 96 es300

Yes you do.

Those screws on the back hold in different internals of the taillights. I know for a fact the 92-93 screws hold in the middle bar, however I'm sure tuan was right on the money with his qoute about the later amber filters. And yeah, you'll still need either a heat gun or an oven to open up your tail light.

Hmm, so pretty much 95-96 is easier to take out the ambers than 92-94 since we don't have to break anything? If thats the case then that makes it better for me then since I broke the ambers in the headlights on accident lol. I guess I should do this mod to get the measurements of how much space I have to work in there and to clear the tails then...

Haha, by far everything done on the inside of the tail light is much easier to handle than the cover itself, which is imo too thin for its own failure. And while you're in there feel free to creatively modify it yourself, so many things could be done (led bar conversion *cough cough*).

Ty for the kind words! It's been a year since I cleared the tails and I've had to add some silicon here and there, but they still look hot and hold together.

Hehe, you got me on my next project. Going to do the 3rd brake light first before going to the tails. Should take me the summer to do all of it because I'll have to find the right LEDs to use for the tails

I'll probably post a project thread soon with what I got and its progress. Currently waiting on LEDs before I solder the 3rd brake light board together
