Weird Radio Issue on 97 ES300
I'm hoping people here can help me out. Recently, I've been having a weird radio issue where the sound will just go silent, as if someone hit a "mute" button. The funny thing is, the radio display doesn't dim or go dark or anything and everything looks like it is working finr. When this happens, I will shut off the radio, wait a few minutes and turn it back on. Sometimes it works again right away, sometimes I have to shut it off again and wait a few more minutes.
Has anyone else experienced this? If so, how can this be resolved? Could this be a potential fuse issue? Thanks in advance!

On my '97 ES, a few weeks ago I would turn the radio on and it would take 20-30 seconds for the sound to start. Then I turned it on after work one day and no sound.
Radio turned on and display functioned and CD played but no sound.
Doing some research it pointed to the amplifier. Aftermarket shop wanted about $250 for a new amp and $75 to install. Would have to do some rewiring too. Ended up taking it to the dealer and the amp was $265 with
$90 labor. Some '97's have the amp under the passenger seat but mine
was behind the glove box by the CD changer.
