Default bad day for da lexo!

the damaged coilover

how it's suppose to look

Well, this happened yesterday on my way to L.A. fitness. I was in Alhambra on commonwealth going east in front of a Albertsons when a 86 year old woman decided to turn left right in front of me. I swerved to avoid the head on collision while hoping to completely miss the car when she hit me. I swear I don’t think she even saw me.
I could only feel sorry for her because she was out of it. Luckily there was an ambulance in the parking lot right in front of where the accent happened. Her airbags deployed and the paramedics took her to the hospital but I think she was just shaken up. Now comes the headache of getting my car back to running condition. I only hope my insurance will cover my coilovers.

Unhappy

It's greatly distressing to see such a well-treated, well-maintained ES get senility-smacked like that. I'm so sorry that this happened to you. I'm relieved that it does not appear to be damage that causes the car not to be "right" from now on.

I'm also very interested in how the insurance company handles coverage of aftermarket suspension components like your coilovers. Keep us up-to-date?

That really suxs man. Now yet agian this is why we need to do something about old people that can't drive. What we should do is mandate a driving test whenever your license expires so that can't call it age discrimination.

I wouldn't throw those stones too hard if I were in the 15-19 age range.

All kidding aside, don't get me started on requiring more didactic and practical education as a prerequisite for driving, giving birth, etc. etc. etc.

Really funny cuz i'm not in the 15-19 age range. So I do feel the need to throw stones about "some" senior drivers

I appreciate the comments. Well, here is the up date:

As far as the aftermarket parts are concerned, it falls under the additional equipment coverage which is a given 1000 bucks. That should cover replacing the rim, clear light and coilover. I called d2 and the rep said he can order just the front passenger. Now, I think I just might raise the coverage just incase (god forbid) any other misfortunes. Now for anyone with lots of time and money invested in your vehicle, it might be a good idea to check your insurance for this information. The additional equipment coverage also includes personal belongings not pertaining to the car.

Well, that’s it for now. She is at the dealer waiting to be put back together. Here are some final shots before she left me. And again thank you for the warm comments.
