Default ES300 Power Steering Leaking

I have a 1992 ES300 and my power steering fluid is leaking and I can not find the leak. I have already replaced the pump so I am assuming it is one of the hoses. Is there any specific hose that leaks that is common on this vehicle? There is always a puddle of fluid on the ground when I back my car out of the garage, I have had to add fliud lately, I am thinking the leak is getting worse. Any ideas?

high pressure hose. Either the one to the fan or pump.

check and double check again... check all hose connected to the pump ...resivor, and fan. when you replace the pump did you check that the hose is properly in?

best way to check is to follow the all hose. and follow any wet spots.

good luck.

I did check the hoses when I replaced the pump, the pump is wet itself but I can see where it is coming from. This may be a dumb question but which hose is the High Pressure hose?

I had the same problem before with my wife's 1998 Corolla. My friend and I were able to fix it by replacing with a new high pressure hose and refilled the P/S fluid. The hose is located next to the firewall, so chances are it may be the same location on your ES. Good luck.

This the same problem that I am currently having. I am for sure mine is the hose that goes to the fan from the ps pump.

when you replace the pump.. did you replace the ring gasket? or look to see if theres any cracks on it... seems like it is leaking from the pump...so double check... make sure it tight on there.

Also DO NOT refill your es with Power Steering fluid. Use Dexron III fluid for your power steering system. I made the same mistake of putting regular fluid in my PS system, and the fluid burned up and reeked horribly. Also things would squeak and whine. I did a Seafoam Transtune flush, and refilled my power steering system with Valvoline Maxlife Dex III transmission fluid and it's running a whole lot quieter than it ever has. I've also been told that regular ps fluid can eat away at seals/gaskets on cars that are meant to use Transmission fluid in the power steering system. That's just my $.02

humm...... thanks. I will check, I did replace some of the ring gaskets, (O-Rings) I have not had a chance to check all of your suggestions, I have been busy, but this weekend I will. I also noticed a little white smoke coming out of my exhaust upon start-up, I know it is not my head gaskets or anything, I changed them out. I think I saw a thread relating this to the powersteering fluid as well, I will have to do a search. I am going to jack her up this weekend and let you all know what I find, thanks again.

Does anyone have some instructions for getting this line out and back in? It wraps all the way around the motor, yuk!!! I seen a youtube video that was just as bad as the line going through there. Didn't explan anything just some guy walking around with the line in his hand and the wind blowing 50 mph.

You have to unbolt engine cradle and suspend your engine, to make room so you can remove that line. Big job imo

Yikes!!! I called the stealer and they said the cost of the hose is $247+tax. I seen after market hoses for sale around the net for less money. Has anyone tried them? Will they work for a few years?

You're paying for quality, if it breaks again it won't be fun to replace it again

Well, at 17 years old I'm not sure how long this car will be around. It really looks a mess and it needs other things as well at 245,000 miles.

I the owner told me to pick up a after market hose, hopefully it will last 1/2 as long as the OEM one which I'm sure will outlive the car. I ended up chaning the hose from up top, it was hard getting the power steering pump end started but once I got that going it went pretty smooth. I would say it took 2 hours to get it done. I did have the intake and plentium off so that helped a lot. The part was $65+.
