Default 96' Driver's side window

The window will go down just fine but to come back up is another story. When I hit the switch it goes up about 1/2 an inch and then I have to wait like 30 min before it can go back up another 1/2 inch (takes about two days to close all the way). Really bites when its raining outside. Is there anything I can do myself or do I have to replace the motor? Thanks for any advice.

One suggestion is to stop rolling down your windows until you get the problem fixed. This way you stay dry inside the ride.

I had a similar issue with the driver's side window in my RX300. I cleaned the rails after removing the door panel. However, if this problem persists after that you have an issue with the motor. I recently did a DIY on the door panel for the RX300, but it has a link to an earlier thread where these issues first cropped up.

My mother's 96 ES300 just had a similiar problem. Window went down, than would only come up half an inch, no more. Took it to an indie shop and they showed me how the "regulator" which is the main mechanism for the cables that raise and lower the windows had broken up, binding the cable. The motor was fine. $150 for the regulator and $150 for labor.

The car only has about 70K miles on it, so I was disappointed to have had a repair on a power window.

Ok so basically after I remove the panel and plastic, all I really have to do is apply WD40 to the regulator, raise and lower the window a few times, let it dry and then apply grease? Just wanna make sure I have the gist. Thanks for your post!
