Cool

only with modifications. it was not intended to mate to you generation 1mz-fe's lower intake manifold.
and you'll want to budget in alot more money to fix the fueling & timing issues of the unreliable TRD kit.

so you're looking more around $1500 for a virgin kit scored on a forum, and another $500-1500 in engine management & associated fueling hardware.

which basically means. the trd sueprcharger is a big honking pile of **** if you want to add power. for the same cost, you could have done a turbo setup that would make a grossly larger amount of power at any point you wanted to measure in the rpm range. all-the-while being much safer.

Cool

here's a 1999 M/T 1mz-fe, trd supercharged @ 6psi, tuned, intake, full exhaust, including bosal ehaders. (6psi will blow a 1mz-fe up eventually... The charge temp is too high without water/alcohol injection.)
view this as the maximum any sane person would ever make for even a short amount of time. (It is unreliable)
  • 216bhp 283ft-lbs @ 4000rpm
  • 265bhp 278ft-lbs @ 5000rpm
  • 296bhp 259ft-lbs @ 6000rpm

here's a '94 A/T 1mz-fe, 10psi on a ct26a. only somewhat tuned, stock exhaust after the turbo
  • 284bhp 372ft-lbs @ 4000rpm
  • 333bhp 349ft-lbs @ 5000rpm
  • 339bhp 296ft-lbs @ 6000rpm

waste of money & effort to me, but people still like them b/c they're too afraid to build an exhaust. they blow the engines up left & right, but they won't build an exhaust. sigh...

so no to a supercharger?

and my gen can be turbo'd... if so, how?

- i love my car as a great daily chill car, all luxury, not really about power, its just alot of people were telling me about the TRD supercharger, so i thought about it and had a couple questions about it... so the trd is not reliable, but what can be done to make it reliable? also is it easy to install?

The TRD is very easy to install, you'll just have to modify some thigns to do it. The bolt pattern (I think you gotta drill out the holes abit)
Yours the single throttlebody or double throttlebody? If it's the double you'll have to convert the wiring & linkages, etc to single.
You need ignition management, fuel management & the means to provide the right fueling at the right time. Different injectors, or auxillary injectors.

A turbo needs the exhaust plumbing to it, the intake & charge piping, oil send & return. Then a means of ignition & fuel management & a means to provide the fuel.

I was looking into the TRD Supercharger kit for a while but when adding up the cost and looking at the projected HP gain I personally dont think its worth it. Besides mine is a daily and I dont want to be having problems. I just finished the turbo on my bike and let me tell ya after that build I'm not looking to do anymore half custom setups. ES for chillin and gettin my lean on bike for the speed.

Well, you're looking at about $2000 to safely make 240bhp on the intended mz-fe application. That'd be $38/horsepower.
If you got away with spending $3500 on a turbo setup. You'd be limited to 320bhp on the stock transmission, for $26.5/hp.

The differance being that if you ever sorted the transmission out, or swapped it for a manual with a good clutch. There really wouldn't be anything stopping someone from making more 350-375bhp'ish on the MZ blocks well tuned. Especially if they ran some water/alcohol injection to keep the pistons happy.

i have the twin throttle body... how much do you think it will cost for the supercharger, modifications, management, etc, all in all for everything?
