Passenger door locks when shut - can only open from inside?
Hello All -
Curious problem -
I've had my es300 1996 for 10+ years - love it!
Everything runs great (knock wood) -
Recently the passenger side door automatically locks itself when you shut the door.
You can press the key lock/unlock (or flip the button inside the car) and the doors appear to unlock/lock. But the passenger door from the outside is still locked. The only way to open the door is to open the handle from the inside. Now once you shut the door you can hear the door lock.
Does/has anyone experienced this?
Thanx
George

Hmm someone posted something similar with their driver door. It could be that a small plastic clip (about 5 bucks from the dealer) has broken, so the rod thing to open the door from the outside is disconnected.

Yes I saw that yesterday while I was reading thru the 15 ba-zillion posts
Now I have to get up the courage to attempt removal of the door panel.
I wonder if I can just take part of it off to look inside at that area?
It's just the lexus is quakity all the way and I must think that its put together like a fine watch.. lol
