Just race him on a curvy highway from a rolling start like 40mph and hope your top end speed and driving skill can beat him but honestly take pheonix's advice he knows what he is talking about reduce your weight as much as you can. At least take out your spare i always do for a serious race and if you really want to help the weight take out all the seats but the driver. Still DO NOT DRAG RACE HIM take him on the highway where we can really show our stuff

You're going to flat out lose. My brother has a 5-speed TC that he commutes to school with. He isn't delusional in a sense that he thinks it's a race car. It's a very nice, well built car for the money.

His car out accelerates mine at any speed. Unless the ground is wet, you're toast.

Some of the response are funny in this thread. Guys we're driving 7-10+ year old cars. Sorry to break the news.

I have a 1997 ES and it can hold its own against some cars. I have a buddy who has a 01 GTI VR6 VW Golf and I only lose to him by about 1.5 - 2 cars.

But I try to keep the speeding to min in the Lexus. Thats why I have the Infiniti G35 Coupe woooo

LOL Taking all that crap out of your car will show that your worried about him beating you. But do whatever you gotta do, $200 is on the line!

Good luck!

I'd put my bet on the tc..but it would probably be close...
I read somewhere that for every 100 lbs you take out, you decrease the 1/4 mile time by .1 seconds...
GL on your 'race' btw..and haha make sure to have people spot for you every 1/2 mile.

Hey, do not race. You will lose. I raced TC 5sp against my 97 Prelude Auto and he was always 1 car length ahead of me. TC took off pretty quick, more like light and strong. ^^
Is 2000 ES faster than Prelude?? I have no idea. Why don't you find someone who drives 1997~2002 Prelude and see waht happens.

my ex had a TC and it was slow. maybe not super slow, but slow. the launch was weak(really weak), and the powerband was weak. no offense. but its only a $20k car. i think youll beat it, if not, then barely nose to nose. btw, didnt you already post up results for this? you beat it no?

Tc are slower than turtles... I think it comes down to the driver. In terms are 0-60 and 1/4 mile, the Tc has a slight advantage so i think if you can drive your auto and get a good launch on him, you should take him.

Music to my ears and one of the reasons that virtually every pilot at my 1/4 mile track starts the race looking at my RX300's rear end.
