Changing the battery did the trick for me.

Perhaps someone else in this thread has noticed that their lights don't flicker until the engine is started, i.e. turning the key one click (activating lights, radio etc.) the lights don't flicker.

DALLISON - I am running into the exact same problem with my 2000 RX300. So I tried what you did by removing the A/F HTR fuse first and it solved the problem. Put it back, and the problem came back. Did the same thing with that Relay and just as with yours, the problem went away then came back when I put it back in. Tried cleaning the contacts.. everything you did.. new wires, alternator, battery, sanded ground connections. Nothing. Did you ever find the cause/fix? I am grateful, no beyond grateful for all the research you have done. There must be someone out there who has figured this out.. hopefully! If you have, would you please let me know? Thanks!

Indeed it still does. There is no question that DALLISON is on to something with the A/F HTR circuit. When that circuit is not operative the problem completely goes away. It's important to know that this car runs extremely strong and has been maticulously maintained. It starts like new - lights are bright everywhere otherwise. I am thinking there is a high resistance path somewhere in that A/F HTR circuit - perhaps since the day it was born. Thoughts anyone? Thanks!

u should check up on the toyotanation.com forum... it seems that alot of models with the 1mzfe have this issue including the avalon...they saw the same results when removing the air fuel ratio sensor.. most saw that switching to the highlander 130amp alt fixxed thier problem...the 100 amp probly isn't strong enough either... i only heard that the 100 amp was a fix. i have a 140amp aftermarket alt installed. i did that 3 months ago when i was told by my mechanic that my voltage reg was bad.. i guess the higher output alt is what fixxed my problem.....
