Default Rack and Pinion might be out

I was driving my car and the steering wheel isn't as tight anymore. Sometimes when I turn, I have to turn the wheel more than I should.

I don't think I can use a rack and pinion from a Camry, right? How much would a rebuilt R&P for a 97 ES cost? Would it be cheaper to get from a junkyard?

I'd try changing the fluid and checking the rack bushings first. Rebuilts are $250+...maybe less on ebay. The local dealer has been after me for two years to change out my rack because when they poke a hole in the boot it leaks a little.....big deal no oil on the floor yet and I'm saving the $1,200 they want to soak me to install a new one!
