Default Brake fluid.........needs replacement?

How often should the brake fluid be changed? The brake pedal travel has been a bit on the long side and the pedal feels mushy (well, moreso than usual). Braking power is there so I doubt the pads need replacement. From what I know, brake fluid can accumulate moisture over time, reducing the effectiveness and feel over time. You guys think I should flush the brake fluid? Is this a DIY or should I get a mechanic for this?

I have it powerflushed by the dealer every 30k miles or 2 years, whichever comes first.

DIY by sucking all of what is in the reservoir out with a turkey baster. Then add new. Bleed all four wheels until the reservoir is almost empty and fill it up again. Bleed again until almost empty and then fill it up again, a second time. This will insure that new fluid has made it down through the ABS modulator valve and has filled the calipers.

What's a reasonable price for the job at a dealer or independent mechanic?

What ever you do, stay away from Motul - it ruined my brake master cylinder, I had to replace it.
I currently use ATE Superblue fluid, it works well for me.
