Default My new mods and mods in progress *LOTS OF PICS*

I'm in the progress of retrofitting '92 ES300 yellow projector fogs into my '97 fog housings. It's a good fit and I think it's very doable.

stock older ES yellow fog assembly

back of it

bare yellow projector. the projector lens is actually yellow like the IS300's fogs

stock fog assembly from '97 ES

lens removed with reflector still inside

empty fog housing. sorry about the bad lighting. should've taken it without flash.

yellow projector unit inside of the newer housing. great fit!

inside the lens. i'm going to wetsand the lenses before retrofitting it.

how pitted and dirty my lenses are

yellow fog with PIAA xtreme whites

since the bulb is tinted blue, the output is slightly green. the wall is also green but you can really see it in the comparison. not sure which set of bulbs I want to use.

yellow fog with stock bulbs

stock bulb output

So what do you guys think? Any suggestions? I'm using this as an opportunity to practice a bit before attempting the HID retrofit. I already have the bulbs, denso ballasts, and e46 bixenon projectors. Look out for that thread in the future.

Almost forgot, new mod..

Netami strut bar. I'm not sure if it's the same as the other ebay strut bars but I did get it on ebay. Good fitment, improved steering and handling.

Sorry about the bad lighting. Please excuse the filthy engine bay too. :/

No fogs! Also I cleared my turn signal bulbs too.

Tell me what you think!

Cool

Now just clear the fog lenses & you'll be golden.
I've always liked the 92-94 yellow ion fogs. Use white bulbs. It gets the msot light through the tint.

Me too. I always got jealous when I saw the older ES's around with them. So the obvious route to take would be to put them in my car. My brother suggested using a slightly higher wattage H3 bulb to get more output. He did the same in his GS.

Well really, regardless of what the bulbs are marked. Normally bulbs with the same family all draw very close to each other. You see all these 80-100w low beam / fog light bulbs floating around. Really they about all draw 40-50w just like a normal bulb & have less output.

WOW, that's really impressive man.
Did you have to cut the housing in order to make the round fog lights fit?

Stock bulbs it is.

I didn't have to cut anything, it's an almost perfect fit. I'm thinking I can just run some long screws to hold the fogs inside the housing, similar to how people retrofit projector HID's. My main problem is the lenses. I want to get rid of the vertical lines, at least in front of the projector.

Maybe something like this?

When I still had my 1st ES, I had these blue fogs. They were bright as h3LL.

No they were not like those falsely advertised blue bulbs. The light out put was like an HID. They were brighter than my headlights.

Thanks! Yeah, I put both fogs into the oven and heated it up to 275 degrees then pryed the tabs open with a flathead screwdriver. I haven't mounted the projector inside the housing yet so I'm still looking for ways to do that. Since it's a reflector housing, the light from the projector reflects some unwanted light so I might have to paint the reflector a flat color. I'm open to suggestions!

The Retrofit seems to be going along nice
I opted for the quick solution using the yellow film, but the beam isn't as yellow as the older ES projector fogs.
When you get them installed we should snap a few night shots and compare output, and color...
The Strut bar looks nice also, did you just look up Camry or Solara bars?
I got a similiar 1 as well, just without the holes drilled out.

Did you clear your stock turn signals?

yellow fogs FTW!! I agree with the brightness of these fogs! definitely very bright unlike other useless OEM fog lights.
