Whether I use 87, 89, 91, 93, doesn't matter. Car gets beaten by pickup trucks and averages 17 mpg either way, so it doesn't really matter to me anymore. I don't honestly notice any difference in performance or fuel economy either way, so whatever.

Well, I don't pretend to know much about engine combustion but does anyone have dyno #'s with different octanes? This would helpful seeing as how everyone has different opinions. I really am interested in the right answer so if anyone REALLY knows please speak up.

I bumped my base timing to 12* so 93 is mandatory in order to keep my pistons intact. I let my mom borrow my baby one day and she goes "I filled your tank" Sure as **** it was pinging like a *****. She dosent like the cheap ****. Still with 93 it hauls ***. Shell stomp all over any stock Matic 1mz any day.

Pinging shouldn't ever happen with 87 octane or better in a normal engine; the engine computer controls timing and won't advance it too much for the gas used. The main difference is the available power. A conservative driver may not notice any difference in performance; but if you accelerate hard, you'll notice a big difference between premium and regular. Gas mileage can be better with premium, but the difference, if any, depends on how you drive. I don't think its a matter of what the car "deserves", it's the performance you want to get out of the car that counts.
By the way nyes300, "detonation" is what allows engines to run; it's "predetonation" that can cause damage.

Since i bought my 02' es300 ive been putting nothing put premium in the tank. Just because ive been told that if i put anything else in my car, it will only mess it up. Is this true?

Not really... It wont HARM anything but you will see a decrease in acceleration because you wont have a full ignition advance when you stomp on it, because if you did it ping profusely. Cheap stuff is fine if you dont beat on it all the time.

Was using 87 octane when I finally decided to try 91 octane.
I immediately saw a HUGE increase in MPG. About 20%. I can do 450-475km instead of 400km !
I'm only using premium fuel since then,

Normally we put plus in the 93 ES, but I've noticed that there's more of a difference in where I get the gas than which octane I use. The 76 right by my house costs about 5 cents more than the one just 1/2 mile away when you pay with cash; 15 cents more when paying with debit/credit. However, we normally get 2-3 mpg (hwy) more than buying at the cheaper station.
Oregon bites. We pay more than the national average, can't pump our own gas for whatever reason, and the gas here isn't even regulated to maintain quality!

Only Sunoco 93 or 94 for my 2002 ES300!!! 109,500 miles (purchased 10 months ago with 92K) and still running beautifully!
I've never seen 94 octane anywhere!?!in CA its 87, 89, 91
