Question Cigarette Lighter

Weird problem here. The cigarette lighter works fine if you're charging a cellphone, radar detector, etc. However, if you want to use it to light a cigarette, you must push in the lighter and hold it until it gets hot. If you just push it in and let go it bounces right back instead of staying put until it's red-hot. Anyone had this problem before or have any ideas on how to fix it? Thanks.

My problem is somewhat the opposite...the power works, but if lighter is pushed in, you can't get it out! I have to get the hubby to yank it out..or myself with pliers. It's awfully annoying. I have the part number to replace the socket, but that might be a bit over my head.

The socket seems to be "out" of it's original placing and holds onto the lighter like a...Chinese finger trap.

Oooouch! Just make sure you don't stick your finger in the socket!

I have the same problem, well I used to have the same problem and never got the problem resloved. My lighter worked fine at first, just push it in then it pops out in a few secounds. Then after a while I had to start holding it in to heat up then pull it out. After doing this for several times, it just stop heating up.

Unfortunately, no amount of detailing will prevent the smoke from penetrating the carpeting, seats, and headliner. Once it's in there, years later it will still be noticeable...

We won't be re-selling it...so it doesn't matter to me. Previous owner smoked like a chimney in it =)
