Cig. Lighter Retained Power ?
I bought an iPod holder that plugs into the cigarette lighter and acts as both a power source and FM modulator. However, I noticed that when I turned the car off, the iPod never turned off... I'm afraid that if I leave it overnight I'll wake up to a dead battery. Does anyone know if the cigarette lighter retains power to accessories even when the car is off? Any advice would be appreciated. This iPod gizmo is pretty much useless if I am going to have to unplug it every time I stop the car.

well here is the thing, the ipod itself wont turn off unless u manually turn it off. The cig lighter will not supply power to the accessory when the ignition is turned off. So you can rest assure that your car battery wont be dead the next morning. On the other hand, the only battery that will be dead is the ipod battery if you didnt turn the ipod off manually. My uncle has his ipod hooked up to his H2 and when he turns the car off the ipod itself doesnt turn off. It keeps playing until you manually turn it off. i hope this helps you. Good luck...

The ipod stays on becasue it needs to be be the user if it is playing a song. If it is stopped or paused, it should turn off by itself in a few minutes. Also if the battery icon is not showing the charging motion or a charging icon, then you know that the car is no longer giving power from the outlet. So you may only have to wory about a ipod with no battery in the morning.
